Introduction to Bellydance

To become proficient at bellydance, it helps to have a good understanding of its orgins and evolution. Likewise, there are several variations to the dance, each with their own stylistic take. Here, Aubre gives an overview of the history and styles of bellydance before demonstrating some of the basic moves.

Bellydance Technique

There are many classic techniques that are representative of bellydance. In this show we'll isolate the key movements into groupings based on sections of the body. As you master each section, you'll be able to progress, with practice, into more complicated forms.

The Ultimate Undulation

The undulation belly roll is one of the most characteristic moves of bellydance. One of the most common questions is how to achieve control and fluidity in the undulation. This show goes through a step by step progression of excercises that will help you achieve the perfect form. It focuses on three primary muscle contractions that will keep the spine long and protected. Plus, by placing the movement within the muscles only, you create more fluidity.

Bellydance Layering

This show focuses on layering techniques that put various moves together into complete bellydance steps. Layering is a techniqe used in bellydance that allows you to execute muliple moves at the same time. It was originally created in response to the more complex musical compositions that were being made.
